nunrunThe “Running Nuns” of St. Charles Children’s Home in RochesterNew Hampshire are pleased to announce the 15th year anniversary of their Annual Labor Day 5k Road Race. The road race fundraiser has helped the sisters provide hundreds of children with the guidance, therapy and love they need to prepare them for life with new families. All proceeds of the road race go to benefit the children at the St. Charles Children’s Home. (Continued below)

On Monday, September 5, 2011, the 15th annual St. Charles Children’s Home Road Race will again be held at the Pease International Tradeport, starting at 9:00 am.

As in years past, the road race will start and finish at Martin’s Point Healthcare, located on 161 Corporate Drive in PortsmouthNH. Ample parking will be available for participants. This year’s race will include a $1,000 cash award pool, special “PR” awards for personal best finish times, new design for the t-shirts, children’s activities, and great food.

The registration fee is $20 per person.  This fee includes a t-shirt guaranteed for the first 1,000 people to sign-up. Children 12 and under run for half price! The course, USATF certified, is ideal for fast runners but safe for all runners and children. Runners can register on-line at the Web site Runningnuns.com or they can mail in their race registration form with a check.

“The sisters and our children have been truly blessed to have this opportunity to be with so many supportive members of the community,” says Sister Mary Agnes, Road Race Coordinator. “This year we hope to reach out to hundreds of new runners and walkers to join our race. If every participant brings a friend or family member with them I know we can reach this goal!”

"As a program of New Hampshire Catholic Charities, I am proud of the transformative work of St. Charles in the lives of needy children in New Hampshire,” said Tom Blonski, President and CEO of New Hampshire Catholic Charities. “Their work could not be fulfilled without the generous annual support of the hundreds of runners, walkers and businesses that make this race a success every year.”

Registration and race number pickup will be from 7:30 am – 8:30 am with the 5k starting at 9:00 am. A children’s Fun Run will follow after the finish of the 5k road race.
