MARK THE CALDNER
Visit the Little Shop of Horrors, when the Rochester Opera House presents this deliciously humorous rock musical from February 23 to March 3. One of the longest running Off-Broadway shows of all time, this charming spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies was written by Howard Ashman. The music is composed by Alan Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown. (Continued below)
Enjoy cocktail seating with a cash bar, light supper and desserts as down-and-out Skid Row floral attendant, Seymour (Chris Bradley), contentedly attends to an exotic plant that he has named Audrey II (Jeremy Asher) in honor of co-worker and love of his life Audrey (Megan Quinn). Seymour soon discovers that this is no ordinary plant as it grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B singing carnivore with a craving for blood. Finally revealing its true identity, Audrey II offers Seymour fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its voracious appetite.
The soundrack includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, Skid Row (Downtown), Somewhere That's Green and Suddenly, Seymour. This Rochester Opera House Production is directed by Anthony Ejarque and Sharon Asher Arsenault with musical direction by William Asher.
