The Young Organist Collaborative, which provides scholarship money to the next generation of organists, is hosting a benefit concert featuring five professional organists at St. John’s Episcopal Church in PortsmouthNH on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 3:00pm. (Click link to scroll down) 

 

Suggested at-the-door donation is $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for seniors. Children are welcome free of charge. There will be a reception following the performance. 

 

The concert will feature organ music by Bach, Bedard, Duruflé,  Liszt, Lubeck, Nevin, Walther and Willan played on the St. John’s Episcopal Church’s LeTourneau opus 75 organ. All concert proceeds will benefit the Next Generation Fund of the Young Organist Collaborative. 

 

Performing will be Bruce Adami, Director of Music and Organist at Christ Episcopal Church in Exeter, NH; Eric Bermani, Director of Music and Organist at Cathedral of St. Joseph, and Diocesan Director of Music for the Diocese of Manchester, NH; Ray Cornils, Minister of Music at First Parish Church, UCC in Brunswick, Municipal Organist for the City of Portland, ME, and faculty member at Bowdoin College, the University of Southern Maine, and the Portland Conservatory of Music; Abbey Siegfried, Director of Music at St. John's Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, NH, and music teacher and school organist at Phillips Academy in Andover, MA; David Wold, Organist and Accompanist at Rye Congregational Church in Rye, NH. All performers are currently faculty members for the Young Organist Collaborative and mentor aspiring organists. 

 

“As a professional organists, we recognize that the next generation of musicians must be cultivated and mentored from an early age,” noted Bruce Adami, program instructor and Chair of the Young Organist Collaborative. "Each year, the Young Organist Collaborative provides scholarships to approximately twelve young musicians, and it is the faculty’s pleasure to host this concert to help raise funds to support next year’s aspiring organists.” 

 

The Young Organist Collaborative supports the musical education of children ages 10-16 by providing scholarship money for organ lessons. Since its inception in 2001, the Collaborative has subsidized the training of 100 organ students. Four program graduates are currently majoring in organ performance at prestigious colleges, including Oberlin. In addition to organ instruction, scholarship recipients are eligible to participate in enrichment activities that expose them to pipe organs around the region.

About The Young Organist Collaborative

 

The Young Organist Collaborative invests in the next generation of organists by providing scholarship money for musicians ages 10-16. An outreach program of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, NH, the Collaborative accepts and supports young musicians of all faiths. Scholarship funds go directly to organ lessons and students are asked to make a yearlong commitment to their musical training. Since its inception in 2001, the Young Organist Collaborative has supported 100 young organists in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts in their musical training. All scholarship funds come from contributions made directly to the Young Organist Collaborative.
