The master storyteller with a deliciously wry wit opens a treasure chest of humorous observations from the Pine Tree State where he was born, raised and educated. Tim Sample has performed thousands of shows on stages from Maine to California, but explains why the Rochester Opera House remains one of his all time favorite venues:

"Unless you’ve traveled and performed as much as I have you really can’t appreciate the magic of the Rochester Opera House. This place has a warmth, intimacy and comfort which just draws the audience together. It’s the perfect hall for the type of monologue I do. Although there’s a real grandeur to the Rochester Opera House and a palpable connection to our past and our New England culture, it’s also as intimate and friendly as your own living room. I can’t explain it. But, I feel that magic every time I walk through the curtain and greet a new audience at the Rochester Opera House. I’ve enjoyed every single show I’ve done there and I always get genuinely excited about coming back for another one."

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Tim Sample’s first comedy album. Since then he has produced eight more albums of Down East humor, four of which were released on the legendary Bert and I label. As author and illustrator, Tim has produced over a dozen books including regional best sellers Saturday Night at Moody’s Diner and Maine Curiosities. He has narrated award-winning films and books on tape such as Stephen King’s The Sun Dog and from 1993 to 2004 Tim was a network news correspondent for the Emmy Award winning show CBS News Sunday Morning hosted by Charles Osgood.

This show is sponsored in part by Eastern Propane & Oil, L. Wynn Sound, Foster’s Daily Democrat, Radio Station WHOM 94.9, Laconia Savings Bank and Broadview Animal Hospital. To reserve tickets call the box office at (603) 335-1992, purchase online, or stop by on M/W/F from 10-5 and before the show. The Rochester Opera House is located in City Hall, 31 Wakefield Street, Rochester NH. The season continues with the Grammy Award winning Broadway musical Smokey Joe’s Café.
