The Seacoast Repertory Theatre will be opening their final show of the 2014 Season, The Wizard of Oz, on Friday December 5. The classic story of Dorothy, a pair of heels, two witches, and finding your way home will play itself out on the Seacoast Rep stage throughout the Holiday season with a fantastic cast of characters. The Rep is able to present the show thanks to funds raised during an emergency crowd-sourcing campaign. The Oz cast is a cross section of Seacoast Rep talent. Christine Dulong will play Dorothy. Chris Bradley will play the Tin Man. Knate Higgins will play the Scarecrow, Interim Artistic Director Miles Burns will play the Cowardly Lion, The Wizard will be played by Jamie Bradley, the Good and Wicked Witches respectively will be played by Cathy McCay and Becky Rudolph respectively. The show is directed by Craig Faulkner.

“We know how important the production of this show is to the community. We think people will be really happy with our product,” says Burns. “This show is a definite victory for the community and for The Rep.”

Oz will open on the heels of a crowdfunding campaign to ensure the production of Oz and the continuation of The Seacoast Rep’s operation. The launch of the campaign prompted a deluge of online and offline donations totaling in excess of $60,000 so far. The Rep opted to continue the campaign and use it to springboard into a larger, ongoing capital campaign to help revitalize the theatre.

“We’re excited to be able to bring this show to our stage,” said Alan Gold, board president. “The Wizard of Oz would not have been possible without the overwhelming show of support from our subscribers, patrons, and the seacoast community at large.  We’re both humbled by their generosity and more determined than ever to keep this institution contributing to the community for years to come”.

Tickets are available at the box office, online at www.seacoastrep.org. Tickets to a special “Friends of The Rep” performance are available through the Indiegogo campaign. Shows run from December 5 through December 28.
