Readings are offered in the upper gallery of the Kittery Art Association, 8 Coleman Ave., off Route 103 (Pepperrell Road), just south of Cap’n Simeon’s Galley in Kittery Point, Maine.

In it Beane, a reclusive, taciturn oddball, lives in a spare studio apartment and a shrinking, darkening world. Joan and Harry, his sister and brother-in-law, try to bring him out and draw him into their busy lives, but their efforts are fruitless. Then, after his apartment is burglarized, Beane is suddenly walking on air—and talking! "I met someone," he says, and Joan and Harry try to unravel the story behind this new love, Molly.

This "richly comic and deeply touching" reading features Harbor Light Stage favorite Chris Curtis as Beane, with Christine Penney, Andy Fling and Maisie Keith Daly.

Audience members are cordially invited to stay after the reading to explore and share their impressions, delights, reflections and insights at RePlay. This informal post-reading discussion is facilitated by Seacoast-based poet, professor, and theatre and fine arts writer Rick Agran.

The final script in the spring Bold Face Play Reading line-up is YANKEE TAVERN by Steven Dietz, April 19. The series will return in the fall. Reservations are recommended. Tickets for the Bold Face Play Reading Series are only $10, payable with cash or check at the door. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Audiences are advised to be prompt: Reservations not claimed by 7:10 may be released to accommodate those on the waiting list.

Dietz is also the playwright of SHOOTING STAR, which brings Harbor Light Stage back to the renowned York Harbor Reading Room for dinner-theatre in May. This smart and wistful comedy features Seacoast actor Blair Hundertmark alongside Portland leading lady Denise Poirier as two star-crossed ex-lovers who find themselves stranded in an aiport 25 years after their love affair. Tickets go on sale March 15.

Also in May, and by popular demand, Harbor Light Stage revives LAMPLIGHT DIALOGUES: A Journey Into the Ghost Lives of Puddle Dock as part of its History Theatre at Strawbery Banke Museum program. The original script by Kent Stephens presents six short plays on six different stages of the historic property. It opens April 30 for a full month of performances, and tickets are on sale now.
