Operation Mockingbird, a debut novel by Linda Baletsa, makes a perfect read for political thriller seekers, covert operation aficionados and anyone looking for a quick and dangerous escapade. Join the author at The Book Rack Bookstore, 52 State Street, Newburyport onSaturday, March 22nd at 3:00 pm for a book event.

Operation Mockingbird mirrors today’s headlines with its eye-opening revelations about America’s war propaganda and the dark recesses of media manipulation.

In this exciting novel of world-class suspense, debut novelist Linda Baletsa introduces readers to the character of journalist Matt Connelly, a former Miami reporter who returns home from Afghanistan eager to resume his once successful writing career. He soon learns that reporters who write about certain topics are being intimidated, tortured – or worse.

A powerful PR firm is manufacturing news and feeding it to the mainstream media and they will stop at nothing to maintain the “spin” – including murder. A series of heart-pounding events catapult Connelly into high gear as he vows to expose the unholy alliances among business, the government and the media – who instead of covering the war, covers it up.

A University of Miami School of Law graduate, Linda Baletsa has been a corporate lawyer for close to twenty years. Linda was raised in Miami, Florida and currently resides in Byfield, Massachusetts with her husband George.

Free and open to the public, the event takes place at the Book Rack onSaturday, March 22nd at 3:00 pm. The author will read a selection from Operation Mockingbird and will be on hand to answer questions and sign copies of the book. Wine and cheese will be served by the Atomic Café and Coffee Roasters.
