The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and refreshments will be served; the presentation begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10. Trinity Church in Hampton and Christ Church in Portsmouth are the co-sponsors of the event.

In this program, Nugent will introduce some of the hardy people who have lived on this rocky archipelago over the past 400 years and tell tales of pirates and ghosts, shipwrecks and grand hotels — the lore and legend of the Isles of Shoals. The presentation includes archival photographs from the 1870s that chronicle the transformation of Star Island from the tiny fishing village of Gosport into an island resort.

Stephanie Voss Nugent is a professional actor, director, producer, and founding Executive Director of ACT ONE, Artists’ Collaborative Theater of New England. Stephanie was fortunate to be a part of the professional company at Theatre By The Sea in Portsmouth playing such roles as Emilia in Othello, Lizzie in The Rainmaker, Sonya in Uncle Vanya, and Agnes in Shadowbox. In 1981 she began studying the Isles of Shoals and the remarkable life of Celia Thaxter, and in 1999 she toured an original, multimedia theater presentation “Of Pirates & Poets — A visit to the Isles of Shoals with Celia Thaxter” to nine theaters and opera houses across New Hampshire.
