The story takes place in the dreams of the young Mary before her wedding. It will be presented by Harbor Light Stage as part of its Bold Face Play Reading Series,

All Bold Face readings are offered in the upper gallery of the Kittery Art Association, 8 Coleman Ave., off Route 103 (Pepperrell Road), just south of Cap’n Simeon’s Galley in Kittery Point, Maine.

"Mary’s Wedding" is a beautiful, sweeping romance set against the tumultuous events of World War I. When young Mary meets Charlie, a handsome cavalry soldier, love blossoms but the Great War beckons. Then, only letters, memories and dreams keep their love alive.

This entrancing reading features Harbor Light Stage favorites CJ Lewis and Whitney Smith, both of whom charmed audiences in Harbor Light Stage’s "Lamplight Dialogues" last fall at Strawbery Banke Museum.

Audience members are cordially invited to stay after the reading to explore and share impressions, delights, reflections and insights. This informal post-reading discussion called RePlay is Harbor Light Stage’s newest program, facilitated by Seacoast-based poet, professor, and theatre and fine arts writer Rick Agran.

"The contemporary, intelligent scripts of the Bold Face Play Reading Series provide fertile ground for engaging conversation, whether you're new to theatre or a veteran consumer of culture," says Harbor Light Stage founding artistic director Kent Stephens. "All are welcome to attend," he says.

This spring will be another busy one for Harbor Light Stage. "Lamplight Dialogues" opens April 30 at Strawbery Banke Museum for a full month of performances, and in May the company will bring Dinner Theatre for Grownups back to the picturesque York Harbor Reading Room (play TBA).

In addition, the Bold Face Play Reading Series continues monthly through April, with "Becky Shaw" by Gina Gianfreddo on March 22 and "Love Song" by John Kolvenbach on April 19.

Tickets for the Bold Face Play Reading Series are only $10, payable with cash or check at the door. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Audiences are advised to be prompt: reservations not claimed by 7:10 may be released to accommodate those on the waiting list.
