The Music Hall has just announced the latest addition to the Intimately Yours series is The Saw Doctors. The Irish super group will bring its "fiery, Celtic rock performance" (New York Post) to the Music Hall stage in the series sponsored by 92.5 The River.

The band’s music is often compared with American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen due to its frequent invocation of local atmosphere, haunts, and characters, and their penchant for singing about ordinary people's lives in economically difficult times.

The band blends pop, punk, and rock n roll into traditional Irish music to create its signature sound. (The band's current bass player, Anthony Thistlethwaite, and former drummer, Fran Breen, have both been members of The Waterboys.) The band holds the record for Ireland's biggest-selling single of all time ("I Useta Lover").

The Saw Doctors have a rabid international fan base often compared to that of the Grateful Dead. This unofficial fan club prides itself on seeing the band’s barnstorming live performances as many times as possible.

According to Patricia Lynch, Executive Director of The Music Hall, "We have been after this group for years. Their songs seize the soul and lift it higher with the juicy common man touch of folk and rock & roll. I dare say if Bruce Springsteen came from County Mayo rather than Asbury Park NJ this is what he would sound like."
