The Flamenco Dance Project is a company of artists dedicated to the evolving art of Flamenco dance and music. The group will showcase the talents of US-based flamenco performers.

The dedication to the art is evident in the upcoming performance "Marcando Compas" on January 30th at The Mission Oak Grill in Newburyport. The show is the creation of artistic director and dancer Sabrina Aviles.
Aviles began studying Spanish folkloric dance in 1978 in her mother's native country Dominican Republic. This talented group has delighted Flamenco fans for many years with the passion and artistry of their performances.
The Flamenco Dance Project - The Marking Rhythm Returns
Seasoned performers include Juanito Pascual, guitarist. whose CD and live performances have been called "exceptionally fine" and "an intricately skilled expression" by reviewers. Performing also is Fernando de Malaga, singer and native of Malaga in Andalucia, Spain, the birthplace of Flamenco. Dancer Maria Galán and musician  Jerry Leake will also appear. The performers end the show by engaging the audience in the discovery of a journey to Spain and to embrace the fire of "Marconda Compas" with dance steps taught by the dancers.
The show will take place January 30, 2010 at Mission Oak Grill, 26 Green Street, Newburyport, MA. Show starts at 8 pm and ticket price is $25.  Word of mouth is spreading fast...if you haven't already purchased tickets you had better hurry.  Purchase tickets at Mission Oak Grill or online.
