The polyps have totally obstructed Brett’s his nasal passages. They have also begun to erode the bones in his sinus cavities, which are filled with fluid. This prevents air from getting where it needs to go. Because of the blockage, nothing gets in; nothing gets out. Fluid has built up in his ears, which has created hearing difficulties. The buildup has also brought on respiratory distress and asthma in his lungs. If that weren’t enough, Brett has lost his sense of smell, and his sense of taste is greatly diminished. Sleeping and swallowing have become a problem. There are even times when breathing at all is an issue, requiring trips to the emergency room.

Brett is a full-time, self-employed musician, who due to the outrageous, rising cost of health care, has had to do without coverage. And because he’s a guitarist, singer and producer, this affliction has directly affected his job and livelihood. Surgery will take care of the polyps. But even with an arrangement made with the hospital and surgeon, Brett still needs to come up with a lot of money.

Brett is known throughout the seacoast area for the charitable work he does with Rock My Soul, playing music and singing for those in need. He is known throughout the US and in many countries as the guitarist who accompanies Daniel Johnston, a singer/songwriter whose mental health struggles were documented in the Sony film "The Devil and Daniel Johnston." And he is known for being a loyal and steadfast friend, always there to help whenever and however it’s needed. Now, his friends would like to help him.
