The final urban renewal of Puddle Dock in the summer of 1963 received almost no coverage in the daily newspapers. A rare candid image shows demolition at the junction of Atkinson Street and Newton Avenue. (Continued below)

The two-family tenement was built around 1905 on newly-made land created by filling in the Puddle Dock tidal inlet. The museum preserved roughly three dozen buildings, but only those built before the early 1800s. (SBM Collection)
