HISTORIC PORTSMOUTH #175

Legend says that ale tycoon Frank Jones first saw the grand Rockingham House when he was a barefoot farm boy visiting from Barrington. He swore he would one-day own the hotel on State Street – and did. Originally the 18th century mansion of Woodbury Langdon, the hotel burned and was rebuilt by Jones in 1884.
