George Jaffrey House (c) Strawbery Banke Archive
Strawbery Banke Presents
HISTORIC PORTSMOUTH #86

The dramatic 1730 George Jaffrey House once stood on the crest of a low hill on Portsmouth’s Daniel Street. Today both the hill and the house are gone. It deteriorated and was torn down in 1921 after the death of its 95-year old owner Robellina Goodrich. The entire hill was flattened to make way for the current Federal Office Building and post office in 1967.
