Doorway of Portsmouth House/SeacoastNH.comStrawbery Banke Presents
HISTORIC PORTSMOUTH #168

Famous orator Daniel Webster cut his teeth as a lawyer in Portsmouth until 1816. Three of his homes were lost to fire and urban renewal. The fourth Webster residence (built 1785) was moved from High Street to Hancock Street at Strawbery Banke. In the mid-1960s it stood forlorn, awaiting a new foundation and restoration.
