HISTORIC PORTSMOUTH #140

With many colonial homes standing, Portsmouth forgets how many were lost. Inside the unremarkable exterior of the Capt. Thomas Manning house, the fireplaces sported elaborate floral decorations. Its carved panels too were ripped out and sold when former bordello owner Cappy Stewart acquired and demolished the house before 1920.
