This ornate cupboard beaufat (or "beafait") once stood in Portsmouth’s Jaffrey House. The built-in corner piece showcased the apex in skilled work by wood carvers and joiners. Considered one of the finest examples of its kind in New England, the cupboard was dismantled and purchased by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. The house was torn down in 1921.
