HISTORIC PORTSMOUTH #174
In the 1940 film "Northwest Passage" actor Spencer Tracy portrayed Major Robert Rogers. The film opened in Stoodley’s Tavern, now at Strawbery Banke. Rogers married Elizabeth Browne of Portsmouth, NH on June 30, 1761. The couple later divorced when Rogers turned Tory and fled to England in the Revolution.
