HISTORIC PORTSMOUTH #107

Lafayette Newell’s amazing Victorian photographs were developed here at the corner of Congress and High Street (now demolished.) The second floor office was above Joseph Pettigrew’s leather shop. The large east window and skylight helped illuminate the studio and the platform projecting from the front was probably to print the photos in sunlight.
