Edward Stickney prepares to bend the thick metal shoe of a draft horse. Whether he succeeded is unknon, but the powerful artisty of the photographer is event all the same. The attention to detail and use of lighting in this unique portrait shows the sophistication of local studio photography in the late 19th century.
