Strawbery Banke Presents
HISTORIC PORTSMOUTH #150
Four jolly tars look like they stepped out of an adventure book written by a Portsmouth author. Before Popeye, lovable, bearded, old salts often served as surrogate fathers to orphaned local boys in books. This label is unreadable, bit a similar shot depicts crew aboard the USS Hartford in 1877.
