HISTORIC PORTSMOUTH #34

What appears to be a perfect Victorian boudoir actually disguises a much older room in the 1760 Joseph Whipple House. The Georgian cornice and hidden colonial fireplace are old. The 1890's-era decorator has added elegant rococo revival furnishings and trendy bordered wallpaper. Then, as now, styles change and cash registers ring.
