HISTORIC PORTSMOUTH #36
No one had seen anything like it. The winter of 1886 brought a stunning ice storm that devastated many of the city’s beloved shade trees. Daylight brought a haunting beauty of glistening ice. This image of the Rockingham National Bank in Market Square is part of a photo series that was a popular souvenir of the historic storm.
